The Self-hate I developed as a kid when I thought white was the only right race
All the superheroes and stars in all the big movies had a white face
The blacks and the browns were mostly portrayed as the bad guys
I hated my skin-color ‘cause it was the same as the bad guys
The media rarely show immigrants in a positive light
The image they’re showing is that immigrants are criminals who never act right
My parents say I have to work twice as hard as a Swede to be equal
And don’t do anything stupid ‘cause you’ll be embarrassing your people

What about the racism amongst us with immigrant backgrounds?
Let’s not forget to look at racism coming from both sides
I’m checking myself and I’m battling my own fears of the unknown

They’ve created a negative stereotype for those who look like me
