(Statik Selektah) [Intro] How it is But that's okay, oh Oh that's okay But how it was Ain't how it is But that's okay Oh, that's okay Because it was good But that was then So let's make it great Oh, let's make it great yea [Verse 1] Helluva day I ain't clapped back once it's whatever you say I'm trying to find something better to say Something to build, learn Get outta my head and create I'm working double time 7 jobs, lotta ladders that I gotta climb It's a 9 to 5 But I'm in love with mine Like the universe the check always come in time On the move like I'm in a school running dimes Back in the day You talk shit, get slapped in the face In a couple brief moments for the paper get packed in a case The prosecutor lacking a case It all could've went left though Copped a building, I just put the money in ESCRO Sad day I just had to part with my best hoe God damn shame but I'm hoping she blessed though I'm hoping she blessed [Chorus] Because how it was Ain't how it is And that's okay Oh, that's okay Because it was good But that was then Let's make it great Oh, let's make it great yea [Verse 2] Grandpa said A whole lotta good days ahead There's gon' be some weeks where you barely gon' make the rent And some days when it's raining checks It's all good Cuz when Sunday come We all come by Talk about the things we love And take our time Sister I could make your plate Would you make mine? And maybe I could drop some gems And pick your mind One thing I know Ain't no going back in time This corny beef is just asinine And you could hit me up after nine And reminisce yea we'll laugh 'n cry And accept what your past denied And so I'm talking about back in the day Good times but I pack it away I should've could've would've s'd it away Better focus on your task for the day Cast a line but you catching today [Chorus] Because how it was Ain't how it is And that's okay Oh, that's okay Because it was good But that was then Let's make it great Oh, let's make it great yea [Verse 3] Get up, get out, it's a brand new day A fresh mic and a brand new stage I care less about noise Cuz what you is what the fuck you say Good things gon' come your way I see the rain on the windowpane The sun came out The birds singing old sweet thang It's so damn loud Sorry about the profane words but fuck your doubts Show up at the op's new crib like fuck your couch It don't matter riches and gold The minimum wage The yesterday is long gone Go get it today I get up and I water my lawn My living is great I'm making sure the money is good, the figures is straight Whole world on my back I hold that shit so lax My to-do list is always packed I know that this, ain't always that We get down, but we get right back [Chorus] Because how it was Ain't how it is And that's okay Oh, that's okay Because it was good But that was then Let's make it great Oh, lets make it great yea
