South Lyrics by Kourtlen Allen

Scarlet Macaw

2022

[Intro]
Yea this for all my people in the South out there because thats where I Grew up... I dedicate this one to y'all, and um this for everybody Around the Earth just so y'all can see what its like... its fun
[Verse 1]
Yea...yea...yea I'm from the South this my voice not an accent
I'm not from Hollywood I don't do lights, cameras, I don't do actions
Look I'm just being myself I cannot switch like trends in fashion
Look I'm just being myself I cannot switch up like clothes in fashion
To tell you the truth I guess I wasn't built to be an actor
This dream no... This dream was real no Abra Kadabra
I had to be myself no magic
I couldn't pull this out my hat like a trick like this was some magic
Rather keep it real, if you have drive then you have to fasten
I'm not a cheetah I don't be moving so fast yea...yea
To keep it real I pray my people lasting
This love it keep on going and this life it keep on lasting
This life it go forever keep going ain't no past tense
I'm present tense ahh yea I forgive for back then
I'm present tense I'm just always smiling we've been laughing
We talk about all of our memories got me laughing
To tell the truth, I keep on going cause I think about my friends back At home
That's just real that's how we grew...that's how we grow
Tell you the truth that just had to keep on going couldn't be sold
If you say you had a dream I promise you had to walk it bold
We came up when you had to keep a warm heart when it was cold
We came up when you had to keep a warm heart when it was cold
If you wanted change get the honor roll
If you wanted change then you had to grow
You couldn't be no trophy, we just had to move
We were moving low-key, I rather keep on changing
I'm not the old me, I'm not the old me
This one for the South I'll keep on going
This one for the South I'll keep on going (keep on going)
[Chorus]
I'm from the south this my voice not an accent
I'm from the south this my voice not an accent
We're from the south this our voice no accent
We're from the south this our voice no accent
[Outro]
We keep y'all in the memory on the daily
Think about all y'all everyday
Where I came from, think about how I grew up
Think about... like...the steps it took to get to this point
Uh.. and that's a constant reminder to stay humble
And always just keep that focus and keep going
Um don't ever let any of this stuff switch you up
Don't ever let any of this stuff change you up
You can be real all the way through all of this
You can be yourself all the way through all of this
More importantly we're just trying to other people where we're from Inspire kids where we're from to follow their dreams
Because when I grew up and I said I want to be a rapper
Man that was like... to people that was like... like I said a magic
That was like considered magic
You had to be a magician in order for your dream to come true
So I just want to show them like if they can see me do it
I hope that they can do it too, yea have fun
