Learned I could rap, it must’ve been 2012, hot in the summer in mom’s garage where I used to dwell, a friend of mine was rhyming, I was enticed & we put together some verses on a laptop & a busted mic, we hit record & it struck a chord in me when I’d spoken, a streak of years of quiet & shyness suddenly broken, was always “Emo kid” or “He don’t fit” or “Why’s he silent?”, teachers like “Neat-o kid, you oughta publish what you’re writing”..

So putting my words over instrumentals was exciting, I felt so lifted & invigorated, high & mighty, I kept recording & writing til morning almost nightly, the liquor, weed & women never had trouble to find me, my life was brighter, I became a songwriter, wow!, I put an EP on a CD & handed it out, never thought that anyone would listen, just look at me now, I just realized they’re listening, damn, I said that shit out loud?..
Stepped back & noticed in the aftermath of Otis I was desperate to create so maybe rap was my escape but on the track I’d just relate to all the other kids my age, not like I really lived the life I claimed, I changed my name to Cookie thinking it was joking, I’m no rapper, I’m a poser, supposed to be a lonely nerd & a constant smoker, I’m mediocre at rapping, singing & mixing music so go ahead & just pigeonhole me for what I’m doing..
