Thank you. And thank you all for gathering here today. As you all know, I was once a slave. And, that experience left a very big impact on my life, that I have struggled to move on from. So, I decided to share my experience with you, in hopes of easing my pain a little more. And now I will share with you my poem, cotton picking

I walk through the fields, with scars along my back
Blood pours out of each crevasse. Down to the doodoo in my crack
I grabbed the doodoo, and threw it on my ball sack

I tried to swim, but I just kept on drowning
I ate a cotton seed when picking out in the field
I got whipped for it. And from the pain I squealed
