Against All Odds Lyrics by love-sadKiD

Out of Focus

2023

[Chorus]
You used to reach out to the stars (So long ago)
But we can't see them, it's too dark (Everybody hold on for a minute, here)
I think it's better off said than done (I'm not that ready to give up)
My drum will beat against all odds
[Verse 1]
Growing up's been growing out of fashion
They'll take away ya Neverland for chasing anything you might have passion in
So growing up, my box rocket crashed in Hell
Say what you want, but afterwards my understanding changed a little bit faster
No one acting like it mattered has me learning through my raps some more
How I could love the sad kid, then pass the knowledge backwards
[Verse 2]
Flew to L.A., then told my parents this exactly, like
I'll make good on your faith, give me a couple years to practice, and I
Knew I'd be great, but never knew how long this process was
Counted every penny to the dollar when the time gets rough
Hungry tryna prove to the world they can find a diamond cup
While racing all the other diamond dozen, rhyming, signer ups
[Pre-Chorus]
Difference is?
Momma told me, "sing from my heart."
Texas told me, "don't come home unless the legend goes hard."
I fell in love and found a muse that gets me ready to bar
And I can teach you how to do it when you're playing my songs, yeah
[Chorus]
You used to reach out to the stars (So long ago)
But we can't see them, it's too dark (Everybody hold on for a minute, here)
I think it's better off said than done (I'm not that ready to give up)
My drum will beat against all odds
[Verse 3]
Hi-hats and cymbals
Snares, kicks, and rhythms
Tambourines smackin' in the hands
Serene and simple
Jamming up a storm while y'all throwing down towels
Hell, if y'all don't start rocking I might have to hit a cowbell
[Verse 4]
Smile like I chose to
Laugh like I'm supposed to
And it's nice losin' my fear of what can happen after
Like if we give it one more year, we'll leave a banner in the rafters
And a trophy in the cabinet
So come on, pick your head up one more time
The sun's creeping like demon from that same blue sky
And turn your back to
[Verse 5]
Contrary to belief, we all were kids for a reason
It's not too late to keep dreaming
And as for me, I'm still sleeping
We rolled the boulder to the top
Wipe your brow, we're getting closer to the goal that no one thought
Stick around, no four leaf clovers in this world, we're tore to none
But I can tell you all about it when you help beat the odds
Yeah
[Outro]
