Holding You Back Lyrics by Luke Friend

Request Unplugged EP

2017

[Verse 1]
I see your cold breath at the front door
Gold lace chain 'round your neck
I’m half dressed and not quite sober
Want this to be over
'Cause we both know what we're here for
[Bridge]
Let’s take this off the shelf
I'm never there to help
You should have someone else
[Chorus]
I know it's gonna hurt to walk away
We can only learn from our mistakes
Oh, I don't wanna go
Don't wanna leave
This isn't where we want it to be
Trust me when I say
Hey, oh
I'm holding, I'm holding you back
I’m holding, I’m holding you back
I'm holding, I’m holding you back
Don't wanna do that
[Verse 2]
We can try and pretend it's okay
Pour another coffee like we used to
Going round in circles
Knowing we're in trouble
Please don’t look at me that way
[Bridge]
You said it first yourself
My late night calls don't help
You should have someone else
[Chorus]
I know it's gonna hurt to walk away
We can only learn from our mistakes
Oh, I don't wanna go
Don't wanna leave
This isn't where we want it to be
Trust me when I say
Hey, oh
[Middle 8]
I know it's not easy for you
You know it's not easy for me too
Watching the tears drown my sleeve
Oh, oh, oh
I'm holding, I'm holding you back
[Chorus]
I know it's gonna hurt to walk away
We can only learn from our mistakes
Oh, I don't wanna go
Don't wanna leave
This isn't where we want it to be
Trust me when I say
[Chorus]
It's gonna hurt to walk away
We can only learn from our mistakes, oh
I don't wanna go
Don't wanna leave
This isn't where we want it to be
Trust me when I say
Hey, oh
I'm holding, I'm holding you back
I'm holding, I'm holding you back
I'm holding, I'm holding you back
Don't wanna do that
