Mission Of Life Lyrics by Matty B

2006

[Chorus]
I got a vision of the mission of life
I’ve been given one chance and won’t be given it twice
Live for my soul, don’t give two shits for the hype
'Cause sometimes it’s hit and miss with this gift that I write
[Verse 1]
The mission
Is it a winding road?
Or a lyrically gifted kid trying to explode?
And share with his fellow people the things that he knows
Erupting corruption as he’s constructing his flows
Bliss for the rhymes and the love of his bros
Avoid the negative void and the troublesome woes
Save his energy for his best friends and not for his foes
Needs to believe in himself just to keep on his toes
Knows at this point in life that spirit is paramount
Matt doesn’t care for the muck and mad amounts
Of cash he hears so many rappers rapping about
No fucking around
And no bullcrapping now
Who cares for the cash when there’s so much to be happy about
Nothing's gonna stop me 'cause I’m a happy chappie now
I just get on the mic and have it out, let it out
Whether I’m getting rich or not I’m forever proud
Feeding off the energy of the sweating crowd
It's like there’s something on my mind and I just gotta let it out
I made this simple but effective album but don’t even care if I sell it now
[Chorus]
I got a vision of the mission of life
I’ve been given one chance and won’t be given it twice
Live for my soul, don’t give two shits for the hype
'Cause sometimes it’s hit and miss with this gift that I write
[Verse 2]
The mission of life
Is it a material journey?
Of working bat-late and leaving real early
Having no time for your kids or your girlie
Owing the banks so much you’re always angry and shirty
House payments and raised interest rates are gonna hurt me
So stressed out you could scream out loud
So tell me
Where’s the great fucking Aussie dream now
With two cars in the garage and a double-story house
In so much debt you can’t dig your way out
Food for thought, but it’s too much to think about
Can’t deal with it all, so you start drinking now
Lost touch, don’t even know what your kids are about
'Cause you’re caught in this system of corporate living wow
You’re tripping out, like your brain’s ripping out on this mission of life
[Chorus]
I got a vision of the mission of life
I’ve been given one chance and won’t be given it twice
Live for my soul, don’t give two shits for the hype
'Cause sometimes it’s hit and miss with this gift that I write
[Verse 3]
My mission of life?
Mate, it’s rocking the mic
Dropping rhymes tied about the topics I like
The love of the ocean on a tropical night
Good vibes, hip-hop music and the company’s right
No conflict, hassle, nothing to fight
Kicking back with family and friends is something I like
Kicking around stories about the waves and rhymes I ride
Surfing and rapping, the two very things that I like
If you follow your heart you might just have a good life
So get your mission right
Matty B forever ripping mics, living right
Watch me win the fight
And in the light of day I’ll wade my way through this lake of material hype
