Baby Steps Lyrics by Melina KB

2021

[Verse 1]
I flirted with somebody new last night
He drove from Colorado
And he teased me for not knowing where that is
I’m geographically his
He brushed up on my arm and we touched, that’s it
But my heart got all fluttery
And now I’m wondering if so did his?
What if we theoretically kissed?
[Pre-Chorus 1]
And I know it’s not much, but it’s more than I’ve
Been able to do in six months
My heart is torn from an old love
Let’s stitch it up so
[Chorus]
I won’t crawl back to my ex, no
I’ve been crying less and less
So break a bottle, make a mess
I’ve been taking baby steps
[Verse 2]
I flirted with somebody, yeah, that’s right
And I could tell my ex was jealous
But I didn’t let it wreck my night
I tell my girls I’ll be alright
[Pre-Chorus 2]
And I know it’s silly
But those sea-splashed eyes
Are all I’ve thought about since three
These butterflies won’t leave me be
Am I ready?
[Chorus]
Oh, I won’t crawl back to my ex, no
I’ve been crying less and less
So break a bottle, make a mess (oh!)
I’ve been taking baby steps
[Bridge]
Healing is a process
I promise to be patient
I’m working through the sorrow
Tomorrow keeps me faithful
Healing is a process
I promise to be patient
I’m working through the sorrow
Tomorrow keeps me faithful
[Chorus]
I won’t crawl back to my ex, no
I’ve been crying less and less
So break a bottle, make a mess
I’ve been taking baby steps
