The War Is On Lyrics by Merc Versus

Love & War

2015

[Verse 1]
Gun barrels and shells in the arsenal of the terror cells
I read it in the local news articles published where I dwell
Decorated with battle scars on me and I wear them well
The modern rap game is a carnival with a carousel
Chemical war targets acquired parallel
Sickness from the poisonous particles in the air you smell
Adjust the threat levels homeland security
As politics and propaganda program us thoroughly
Dissenting public voices often found their wrists in cuffs
You don't get the message? You might hear the sound of pistols bust
Twist and puff a spliff of dust or get that crystal rush
Or freebase/ You challenge the police state? No fisticuffs
In the presence of the law be on your best behavior
You could face the persecution of your town's elected mayor
It's hard to organize when you don't trust your next-door neighbor
Resurrected savior/ Revelation 12, the pregnant labor
[Chorus]
We sacrifice/ Still chasing after paradise
So many of us pay the price
But now the war is on/ The war is on...the war is on
[Verse 2]
Seconds on the timer/ You're still in the bomb's radius
These weapons are designed so the killing is spontaneous
They classify as villains upon playing this
The intellect is shining and brilliant beyond radiance
Compare the scene to the coverage of the Arab Spring
Molotov cocktail/ Soaking the wick in kerosene
American dreams broken/ Abusive parenting
Wearing green digital camo so we are barely seen
Some will say it's a crime and they came to grab the loot
Law enforcement agency snipers took aim and they had to shoot
Follow the leader/ The piper will play the magic flute
And persecute the ones that are righteously named with attributes
The smallest differences hold the entire nation back
And ain't nobody thinking of closing the generation gap
So it's still young vs. old and divided native blacks
And immigrants/ The Willie Lynch code in the population cracked
[Chorus]
We sacrifice/ Still chasing after paradise
So many of us pay the price
But now the war is on/ The war is on...the war is on
[Verse 3]
Cuban-owned weaponry/ Missile crisis, computer drones
Classified material/ Scientists growing human clones
Bankrupt businesses, debt collectors for student loans
Economic hustle, chaotic struggle, and truth unknown
Shootings at centers of learning/ Children are schooled at home
Use your phone app to surf the internet on Google Chrome
Serial killers and pyramid builders moving stone
Vatican catacomb ceremonies at tombs in Rome
