When we grew up, well, things got strange
Her politics got her all deranged
So I stole her poem and wrote a song
That my friend and I played all summer long
Looking back those times were great
Full of love and grand mistakes
But it's not over, there’s more to come
I’m a kid that’s trying too hard too young
