“Ness are Rick Ness, John San Juan, Bill Swartz, and Phil Young. On these recordings, Rick played the right-hand guitars, and sang quite a bit. That’s his piano in “Elena Margaret”. John played the left-hand guitars and basses, and sung as well. He also played keyboards when necessary. Bill played the drums and didn't sing much. Phil played most of the keyboards and the Rickenbacker bass, and did a lot of singing. Scott Leegan contributed backing vocals, acoustic guitar, and organ to both “Losing Track” and “Goin’ Home”. Cam Champion played pedal steel guitar on “Elena Margaret”. Michael Smith played trombone on “Goin' Home”. Caroline Ennerman, Karen Lewis, and Mick Porter sung backing vocals on “Open Your Eyes”. These songs were produced by Ness and Neal Ostrofsky, who recorded and mixed this thing at B-Side Audio in Chicago. Neal also provided backing vocals and percussion on “Pretty White”. Thanks to him. The first Ness album, Up Late with People, is also pretty good. Look for it at nessmusic.com.”
