A graduate of the University of Toronto, the best in Canada, and an international award winner, Lohana combines multicultural experiences and academic achievements with projects that reflect her authenticity and global impact.
Currently living in Florianópolis and planning a season in Calgary, she shares, in an exclusive interview, reflections on her life, her projects and how her international experience shapes her approach as a content creator.
What is it like for you to have received so many international awards?
Lohana Capanema:
"Receiving so many international awards is an immense honor and a reaffirmation of my commitment to academic and professional excellence. It also represents the recognition of a career marked by dedication, overcoming obstacles and a quest for global impact. I grew up in a lower middle-class family, where I learned from an early age the value of effort and education to face challenges in order to achieve my goals. Thanks to scholarships, I was able to overcome challenges and build a solid foundation that led me to study at the University of Toronto, the best in Canada, where I had the opportunity to excel not only academically, but also in leadership and volunteer initiatives."
What are your professional goals for the near future?
Lohana Capanema:
"My main goal is to expand my influence on social media, such as Instagram and YouTube, to share not only my lifestyle, but also my academic journey, professional achievements and personal learnings. I want to create content that inspires and informs, covering everything from practical travel tips, financial planning and cultural curiosities, to deeper topics, such as overcoming challenges, career development and the importance of education."
How did this entrepreneurial side of yours emerge and what motivated you?
Lohana Capanema:
"My entrepreneurial side emerged as a natural extension of my academic and professional trajectory, but it was during the pandemic that I truly realized the potential to explore more creative and innovative ways of working. This period brought a new perspective, showing me that technology has the power to connect, influence and transform the lives of people around the world, even from a distance."
You are someone who loves sharing your travels on Instagram. Do you have plans to expand your immersive content to other social networks?
Lohana Capanema:
"Yes, definitely. One of my big projects for 2025 will be the launch of my new YouTube channel, which I am planning very carefully to offer authentic, immersive and informative content. I want to invest in quality equipment, such as cameras and drones, to capture both luxury trips and more affordable experiences. The goal is to show people that traveling, whether domestically or abroad, is more achievable than many imagine, as long as there is planning and smart use of resources. I intend to share practical tips on how to save on flights, accommodations and other expenses, helping my audience to plan financially to explore the world."
What is your biggest challenge, both as an entrepreneur and as an investor?
Lohana Capanema:
"As an entrepreneur, one of the biggest challenges is maintaining the resilience and patience needed to deal with the time it takes for projects and businesses to mature. Often, results do not appear immediately, and it is necessary to have realistic expectations and strategic planning to sustain a venture until it gains traction and begins to generate the expected results. This process requires not only discipline and emotional strength, but also the ability to invest resources — be they time, money or knowledge — with the awareness that everything is part of a long-term investment. Immediacy is one of the greatest enemies of success, and I believe that the key is to align expectations with consistent actions, always seeking continuous progress and overcoming limits."
