[Intro]
Oh, this must be story time
You’re in the mood for a story?
You know, I love stories
I just hate tellin’ ‘em
Feel this
[Verse 1]
Hard prey born and raised
Merely made out of rage and pain
Fueled by bleak days, rude to clichès, face-definition of “based”
Haze blazer on daily basis since about eighth grade
I get that gaze, that’s first phase, now let’s debate this case
The kid’s name ain’t essential
All you must know is he got potential
But he ain’t been gettin’ that much attеntion as far as he can remembеr
Ever since he first met his sister
Closer look, what’s wrong with her?
I don’t know, she barely sees ya
And fingerspells to diss ya
Plus your moms already does a lot for us
As for your pops, he busts his hump
Givin’ up only his time to Groeneveld
But little man didn’t flinch, he's like:
“No shit, you do what you got to do and let me babysit, I love you”
[Chorus]
Not a day off, not a day soft
Not a single drop shed in front of them gon’ pay off
And all the shit we've been through
All the time we had to argue
But I’m grateful
Fine with mine, never had to ask you
And I do beg you to understand whenever you catch me upset
Spazzin’ out ‘cause of stress, it’s not the opposite sex
Step by step findin’ out about the man that I am
Look at life through my lens, see why it don’t make any sense
[Verse 2]
Yeah I can sense intrerest since I’m the only witness
Of this whole business and shit, peeps be trippin’
Over the fact that maybe this kid may be even bullshittin’
“Matter of fact ain’t he rich? You never lacked shit, bitch”
Sure thing
It’s not that we’ve been only reaping what we sowed
Like couple decades ago
When barely livin’, dead broke
When basically you would never bring lil’ Ale with you anywhere you’d go
Love be strong, but sacrifice never be enough
Then on December 10, ‘99 is like a joker was born
Healthy motherfucker aboard
Very powerful
But baby just looks way too sensitive to handle it
And gettin’ bullied ain’t helping him
Yet watch him fuckin’ pull through it like the badass he is
[Verse 3]
Don’t want no smoke with the past, I’d just rather smoke on it
The smaller deals let me forget, got no strength left to overthink
Your man got cold and deadass soon as the present got bogus
Call it a heaven-sent dead end, and that was about it
For me to finally bite the bullet and accept the wildest truth
That lots of dudes is actual pussies
Envious-lookin’, sticky as loogies
I got an entire bloodline that I can’t let down
That, darn, I must just make proud and, damn, I swear I will, pal
If they ain’t already, and if they say that I’m really ready
‘Cause quite frankly I sure been kinda misbehavin’ lately (uhh)
‘Cause I’m blessed with the curse and cursed with the blessing
Hence fairly aligned with my heritage
Of rednecks, merchants and blacksmiths
[Bridge]
Hey big man, we’ve been watching you from up here
We saw it all from the start, we know how this life thing ain’t fair
No real friends, no real love, but all the support you want
All that kindness, all that growth, but not a trophy of some sort
And now you wander aimlessly, patiently lettin’ the day after be
But regardless of everything, you can always count on your family
So relax, sit back and maintain focus
Ain’t no order and you ain’t no goner
So get back up and just dust the dirt off both shoulders
[Interlude]
Quel che è stato è stato
Il passato… è passato
Guardo avanti
Io devo guardare avanti, non cerco nessuna spiegazione
[Chorus] (x2)
Not a day off, not a day soft
Not a single drop shed in front of them gon’ pay off
And all the shit we've been through
All the time we had to argue
But I’m grateful
Fine with mine, never had to ask you
And I do beg you to understand whenever you catch me upset
Spazzin’ out ‘cause of stress, it’s not the opposite sex
Step by step findin’ out about the man that I am
Look at life through my lens, see why it don’t make any sense (uh)
[Outro]
Yes…
