New Day Lyrics by Palermo Stone

R.A.R.E.

2012

[Verse 1: Palermo Stone]
Time is ticking past the darkest hour
My ashes flicking off the joints of sour
My nigga hover over stoves like towers
But that ain't flour
It’s how my nigga feed his kids, it ain't bout power
I’ll never mention him, I promised him that
Now ever since day one it was mutual respect
He in my set, and I'll damned if my nigga don’t eat, when I eat
Yea I'll be damned if my niggas ain't good, when I’m good
I'll be damned if my mother ain't straight
Is that right? Yea damn right, niggas was bound to be great
Yea I can't wait to stop working for hourly rates
I try for patience but patience don’t duplicate dollars
I feel the safest in the arms of a stranger, my problems
The math is simple, I’m one fucked up individual
Cause every move is pivotal
Paper chasing I need that dinner bowl
Y'all wonder why I’m cynical, yeah
[Hook: Palermo Stone]
Even when then hours seem dark and cold
The closer that it gets to twelve, I see gold
Cause it’s a new day (x4)
[Verse 2: Palermo Stone]
The night is young, man I swear I’m alive
I’m just tryin' to get my slice of American Pie
I know there’s plenty fish, why don’t you drop me lines
I know I stand out in the midst, I’m a popular guy
But when I’m not over these beats I'm just awkward and shy
I bet you have them kiss your feet at the drop of a dime
See, me I’m cool, calm, collected, for games I have no time
You see I love being in love but it slows up my grind
I’m too dedicated to her, it fucks with my mind
I told my niggas it was her, I confess that I’m lying
She wanted me to herself I can’t knock her for trying
But I’m unfixable and damn-it what horrible timing
I thought I’d speak to you a second, I’m sorry for rhyming
It could have been a call, it could have been a text
But then the world wouldn't know why I be tweeting so less
Because I’m sad and I’m hopeful that I won’t see the stress
You want to hate me for honesty, be my guest, yes!
[Hook: Palermo Stone]
Even when then hours seem dark and cold
The closer that it gets to twelve, I see gold
Cause it’s a new day (x4)
