Please Be My Friend Lyrics by Paper Lace

First Edition

0

Once I sung and I told everyone about you
And they laughed and they told me I'd never win
And I struck my best friend for saying that you
Were just a playgirl, taking me in
Please be my friend
Just forget what I've done and let's start again
Soon the folks that I knew came to see me no more
They said that I'd fallen in deep with you
Now I hear them all walking right by my door
But I love you girl, what can I do?
Please be my friend
Just forget what I've done, let me make amends
My old friend, he stopped me in the road one day
And he looked so despairing into my eyes
I just turned and walked home, 'cause I couldn't see
That my love she was telling me lies
Please be my friend
Just forget what I've done, we can start again
Well, I woke up one morning, my head was so light
And I heard someone knocking upon my door
And my old friend stood there, with her by his side
And I knew it was ending for sure
Oh, please be my friend
Let's forget what you've done, we can start again
Oh, please be my friend
Let's forget what we've done now, let's start again
Oh, please be my friend
Let's forget what we've done now, let's start again
