Hey guys so this is just going to be a wall of text that will be linked in my user/artist bio. (Presumably that's how you got here, but either way, please continue reading.)All the way back when I became an Editor on Genius, I realized I wasn't being notified for tons of initiatives or accomplishments I knew I was a part of or had achieved. At the beginning, I realized it was because many users would tag me as @pessoa, reflecting my artist name, Pessoa. The problem came with the fact that my Username (the thing that you @ me with) is @ARPessoa, and not @pessoa.
Well, it was @ARPessoa.
After a decently-long wait, I can say that I finally have the domain for @Pessoa.
It was a tough decision to make. The transition affects a few things negatively. For starters, I temporarily lost my Moderator status. For those who don't know, Moderators are unable to change their Username so that other members of the Editorial Board, Moderation Team, Staff Members, and Contributors alike are not confused by a "random" addition to the moderation team.
This resets a few things for me. Notably, when my account displays I was promoted is a big one. Currently, I have only been a Moderator for two months, but let's be honest: when someone looks at someone's page and sees they have only had a role for a brief period, we all stereotype them as an amateur or maybe an Editor-in- or Moderator-in-training.
For reference, I estimated that I've missed somewhere between 1200 and 1500 notifications. As a moderator, this is bad. I need to be receiving each and every notification I get in order to keep the site and/or annotations in tip-top shape around the clock.
I'm not 100% sure this has been done before. Fortunately, @Empath and @ewokABdevito have graciously given me the opportunity to change my domain to which I am extremely thankful. This is also a remarkable way to begin the new year.
