Companion Pony Lyrics by Peter Bibby

Drama King

2024

Big horse out in the field
Feeling real alone
What that big horse needs
Is a companion pony
To keep him safe, to keep him sound
To keep him from burying his head in the ground
Needs a companion pony
Yeah, the jockeys and the gamblers
Oh, they cast that big horse out
After he kicked back in protest
Against what they're all about
All the whipping and all the thrashing
And all the glue-manufacturing
Was just a bit too much for the big horse
To stand around relaxing
So he took his big old hooves
And he stomped the gamblers' backs in
And he gave the jockeys what for
He really sent 'em to the doctor
And now he's living alone in a field without nobody stepping in
To keep him safe, to keep him sound
To keep him from burying his head in the ground
He needs a companion pony
And now that big horse is only running for himself
No, he's never gonna run for a pig's wealth
Well, he won so many races and they drank so many Juleps
And a whooping on his ass, all the thanks he ever get
Gonna run, gonna run, he's gonna run, gonna run
He's gonna run, gonna run, he's gonna run
Yeah, he's gonna run, gonna run, gonna run, gonna
He's gonna run, gonna run, gonna run
Yeah, he's gonna run, gonna run, gonna run
Yeah, he's gonna run, gonna run, gonna run
Yeah, over the hill, 'round the bend
Jump right over an electric fence
Find that companion pony
And now keep on running, keep on running, keep on running
Running, keep on running, keep on running, keep on running
And now keep on running, keep on running
Yeah, keep running, yeah, keep running
Yeah, keep running, running, running, running
