First Name Basis Lyrics by Preston Eggert

Sunshine Blues

2019

You so fine girl
What’s your name?
Sorry if I asked
Too suddenly
Don’t think we’ve met before
Blame it on fate
If you would call me back
Then that’d be great
I really want to get to know you better
I’ll introduce myself I’m Preston now we’re acquainted
I’m thinking that I’d really like your number
I won’t stop till I’ve
Got you on a first name basis x3
Damn I think I pissed you off
I mean, we just met how was I supposed
To know you hated dogs?
Girl: I don't hate dogs it's an allergic reaction I just can't, my face swells, it just... it just gets terrible ok?
Guy: ok… sorry… my bad
Girl: Hold up I’m getting a call do you mind?
Guy: Oh no not at all I’ll get back to the singing thing
Got you on a first name-
Girl: Hold up can you not do that right now? I’m on the phone
Guy: Oh sorry my bad
Girl: Hi this is Karen speaking
Guy: Your name is Karen?! *gasp*
Girl: Wha- wait… no… NO!
Now we’re on a first name basis!
Girl: God dammit
I just want to get to know you better
But you wouldn’t let me in
I see despite this coffee shop
Between the sips of hot chocolate
That you’re lonely just a little bit
I just want to get to know you better
But you wouldn’t let me in
I see despite this coffee shop
Between the sips of that coffee cup
That you’re lonely just a little bit
I thought I’d try to
Make you a bit less lonely
But I get it now
I’ll leave
I hope you have a great day
Sorry that I got in the way
I, too, get lonely just the same
Girl: Ugh now I feel bad. Here. How about we start over?
Guy: No I can take a hint
Girl: *mumbles* it was more than a hint
Guy: What?
Girl: Nothing! Now I’m serious I’m sorry for being so rude I just want my coffee. My name is Karen. What’s yours?
Guy: Preston
Girl: Well?
Both: Now we’re on a first name basis
