Holding on Is Holding You Back Lyrics by push baby
Wow, Big Legend
2020
[Intro (spoken)] Alright, Alright Settle down, settle down... Yeah! Yeah... Oh yeah... [Verse 1] In these times I'm surprised I've let these things end in a mess I've bottled it up so much its infected my head But it was hard to write it down on a page With someone else holding the pen And now I'm left with no inhibitions, it's only myself to please There's only so many dicks you can suck Till your knees start to bleed And your jaw starts to lock as you mumble "Set me free!" It's like I was a child in a supermarket and Someone was holding me by the collar so I didn't get lost And I was stuck by the fruit and veg section screaming "Has anyone seen my dad? I don't know where he is!" And so for a while, it seemed like I was wandering around Tryna figure out what it all means like "Why are we here?" "What do I believe?" "Why did I hand over the power over to a corporation that lost control of my dreams?", BUT... Out of the blue, I get a text from Zac I told him my situation and that I can't relax and he said... "I think you'd be surprised how much holding on... ...is holding you back!" [Hook] Yeah... It's holding you back Yeah! It's holding you back from the things that you like It's holding you back so you can't see the light It's holding you back It's holding you back [Verse 2] So I was 16 with a head full of dreams And I was telling Danny it'll be me You'll see on that arena stage, there's people going insane And I'll try to get Ari's number, mate But you're twice her age... And then came a couple of years where I was lost I was bumming around Reminiscing about the top of the pops saying... "Hey! I made it once - I got to the top!" "Yeah, and now you're depressed just because you got dropped..." But I learnt to face the music and dance Even if the rhythms off and you can't control your hands Even when your money hits zero and your begging for fans And when the man with the briefcase says you can't You fucking can! And it's a tough code to crack to realize the journey is where it's at And I still have to say to myself: "I think you'd be surprised how much holding on, young man... Is holding you back!" [Hook] It's holding you back Yeah! (it's holding you back) It's holding you back from the things that you like It's holding you back so you can't see the light It's holding you back It's holding you back [Bridge] If you're holding on to something, let it go Don't fight the feeling, oh no If you're holding on to something, let it go Don't fight the feeling, oh no [Verse 3] Now - I hope you don't take this as me saying that "I've made it" Because "made it" is subjective But I've learnt that making it is all about happiness That's the main objective And I guess maybe I just had a shift in perspective So now it's up to me to sit back and relax And no longer focus on the things that I lack... and thanks to Zac I've finally come to realize that holding on... You get what I'm saying... [Hook] If you're holding on to something, let it go (Yeah! Get it now!) Don't fight the feeling, oh no (it's holding you back) It's holding you back from the things that you like It's holding you back so you can't see the light (If you're holding on to something, let it go) It's holding you back It's holding you back (Don't fight the feeling, oh no)
