[Intro]
Hey, this right here sound like one of those family reunion songs
Everybody in a big ass circle, you know, people taking turns getting in the middle and all that
And that's a place of love right there, so that's we gon' do on this song right here
Spread love to the people that matter most to us
Prolly ain't tell 'em in a while, but listen
[Verse 1]
Looking back on those days, now look how far you done came
You was always a genius, now they see it today
But they ain’t see your potential because of how you behaved
Sad to say some thought you’d end up as the cliché
That they use for black men, you know the only two ways
When you coming from the hood they swear that’s always your fate
And you was a wild boy but I knew that wasn’t the case
I mean we was young, where’s your chance for growth and some change?
And you got many talents, nigga can do anything
You can rap, you can sing, you can act on the screen
Or in sports lead a team, and we once shared a dream
But you chose a different route and I’m gon' support either way
And I admire the fact you went and got you a queen
Anticipating the day you go and get her that ring
And our crew separate ways, but the love never changed
Long as them motherfuckers know that we all been some kings
[Hook]
And I’m proud of ya
My nigga I’m so proud of ya
And though some doubted ya, they just ain’t amount to ya
Dawg I’m proud of ya
And I’m proud of ya, right
My nigga I’m so proud of ya, right
And though some doubted ya, they ain’t know your caliber
Dawg I’m proud of ya
Listen
[Verse 2]
Now girl I know we really haven’t talked in a while
But despite all the distance, you’re still a best friend of mine
Why do I keep letting all this time just go by
Without letting you know often that you’re crossing my mind
And I hate the distance 'cause you're like a sister to me
Why did I make you feel you don’t make a difference to me?
It was a miscommunication, wasn’t different to me
But to loved ones that’s the case when you’re too fucking busy
Wish I was still around 'cause you got a family now
Seeing updates now and then, I can’t help but to smile
Yeah, I just can’t help but to smile
Supportive of your choices, I know you’ll make us proud
Hope you ain’t missing in action with your pursuit in fashion
I been gone for a minute, but hope that is still your passion
And if we never speak again, please just hear one thing
Though you got obligations, don’t give up on your dreams
[Hook]
And I’m proud of ya
Girl I’m so proud of ya, hey
And though some doubted ya, they just ain’t amount to ya
Girl I’m proud of ya, right
And I’m proud of ya
Girl I’m so proud of ya
And though some doubted ya, they ain’t know your caliber
Girl I’m proud of ya
[Verse 3]
My nigga through your whole life, know you been through some Hell
And you felt alone at times, like no one's wishing you well
And we know some people close to us that thought you would fail
I mean you had some doubts at times, shit you thought it yourself
Listen, we both know about financial situations
Struggling finding a way to get to our destination
Of achieving greatness, but accounts is in the negative
Have you contemplating, thoughts of Satan, now you desperate
And I know you got a feeling I can’t try to explain
The feeling of a mother being taken away
And that’s my grandmother, but I know I still can’t relate
Hella thoughts on your brain, hope you don’t give yourself blame
And you beat the odds all through the pain at graduation
Having the family there proud and all glad you made it
And now the ones who doubted, they ain't got nothing to say
But back to work nigga, when the fuck you dropping the tape?
[Hook]
And I’m proud of ya
My nigga I’m so proud of ya
And though some doubted ya, they just ain’t amount to ya
Dawg I’m proud of ya
And I’m proud of ya, right
My nigga I’m so proud of ya, right
And though some doubted ya, they ain’t know your caliber
Dawg I’m proud of ya, right
[Outro]
Sample ain't got a damn thing to do with the song, haha
Poetic Junior on the beat by the way as usual, that's my brother right there
I know we all got some people in our lives that we probably haven't expressed how much they mean to us in a lil minute so I suggest everybody just take a second and do that real quick
