Mist (Annotated) Lyrics by Ross Millet

I. James (Annotated)

2022

[Part 1, spoken]
Chapter 4, James 4:13-17
"Now listen, you who say "today or tomorrow, we will go to this or that city. Spend a year there, carry on business and make money." Why, you don't even know what will happen tomorrow! What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes. Instead you like to say "if it is the Lord's will, we will live and do this or that" as you boast in your arrogant schemes. All such boasting is evil. If anyone then knows the good they ought to do and doesn't do it, it is sin for them."
Our lives are vapors; we have no control or understanding of the time wе have left
We arеn't promised tomorrow so why should we wait to do the things that we know we should do?
For it is sin to know what we need to do and not do it
We need to put God at the center of our planning
Why make plans as if God does not exist when He holds the future in His hands?
Seizing opportunities or being assertive without considering what God wants will lead to frustration. Here's "Mist."
[Part 2]
I woke up this morning
Couldn't see through the fog
As soon as you see it, it seems like it's gone
Never comes with a warning, it's just moving along
Such a beautiful thing interrupted by dawn
And life's like a mist
We're here then we vanish
Just cease to exist
With prayers we don't perish
And I can't rely on tomorrow, yeah
I don't have a clue what's gonna happen tomorrow
But I'm living like I have all the time in the world
I take for granted all the time I have but know that it's borrowed
And I'm straying from Your Word
Woah
Woah-oh-oh
Woah
Woah-oh-oh
Woah
Woah-oh-oh
Woah-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh
Yeah
Life's a vapor, never fails to move on
I say later, just assuming I'm God
But I have no control of time, no
I see what I want
But then I push it aside
And now it's been six months
And I'm still tryna hide
In the closet with all my skeletons
I don't have a clue what's gonna happen tomorrow
But I'm living like I have all the time in the world
I take for granted all the time I have but know that it's borrowed
And I'm straying from Your Word
Woah
Woah-oh-oh
Woah
Woah-oh-oh
Woah
Woah-oh-oh
Woah-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh
I woke up this morning
Couldn't see through the fog
As soon as you see it, it seems like it's gone
Never comes with a warning, just moving along
Such a beautiful thing interrupted by dawn
