Shudder (Annotated) Lyrics by Ross Millet

I. James (Annotated)

2022

[Part 1, spoken]
Chapter 2, James 2:18-19
"What good is it, my brothers and sisters, if someone claims to have faith but has no deeds? Can such faith save them? Suppose a brother or sister is without clothes and daily food. If one of you says to them, "go in peace; keep warm and well-fed," but does nothing about their physical needs, what good is it? In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead. But someone will say "you have faith, I have deeds." Show me your faith without deeds and I will show you my faith by my deeds. You believe that there is one god, good! Even the demons believe that and shudder."
It's easy to say we're Christians because we believe in God. So what? Even the demons believe in God
They know He exists. That clearly doesn't make them followers of Christ
We are saved by grace through faith, yes, but that true faith will produce works
Like telling someone without food to eat, without offering them anything to consume, merely saying we are believers without shamelessly proclaiming His name and pointing others in His direction means close to nothing
Here's "Shudder."
[Part 2]
I believe in greater things
I've heard of refuge that Jesus brings
I say I know Him, but honestly
I don't know the last time I called His name
I have no food, but I'm told to eat
I've got no water, you say to drink
I'm pushed away, you say "go in peace"
'Cause you have faith but I have deeds
Yeah, but even the demons believe Jesus
They hear Your name and they shudder
Worthless is faith without deeds, yeah
I'm starting to see this in color
And I can say I'm a Christian
But never a word do I mutter
Yeshua, I need You now
Jesus, I'm runnin' for cover
I believe in greater things
I've heard of refuge that Jesus brings
I say I know Him, but honestly
I don't know the last time I called His name
I have no food, but I'm told to eat
I've got no water, you say to drink
I'm pushed away, you say "go in peace"
'Cause you have faith but I have deeds
Yeah, but even the demons believe Jesus
They hear Your name and they shudder
Worthless is faith without deeds, yeah
I'm starting to see this in color
And I can say I'm a Christian
But never a word do I mutter
Yeshua, I need You now
Jesus, I'm runnin' for cover
And I can say I'm a Christian
But never a word do I mutter
Yeshua, I need You now
Jesus, I'm runnin' for cover
Oh-oh
Oh-oh
Jesus, I'm runnin' for
Jesus, I'm runnin' for You
Jesus, I'm runnin' for cover
Oh-oh
Oh-oh
Oh
