Backroads Lyrics by Ruenous

Suburban Disturbance

2023

[Verse 1]
Flies swirling in the afternoon
Kids playing in the road
Hosed down in the summer heat
The grass bends towards me in the breeze and you know
I've always been a fighter
And I get it from my father
I hope I'm not gonna die here
You say while choking on your own tears
[Chorus]
From the start we were doomed
I'm running down a road to you
Wish I had something else to do
Other than to just stare at you
You
I hate being me (We were)
All the time it's (We were)
So stifling (We were)
Child of mind (Doomed)
I hate being me (We were)
All the time it's (We were)
So stifling (Doomed)
Child of mind (Doomed)
[Verse 2]
The sun cooks the blood
As it rots under trees, you told me
You didn't wanna see me die
And I didn't wanna make you cry
So I held out another week
These walls they grow closer everyday
So again I gotta learn the hard way
I'll get it any way that I can
While I'm trying not to be like my dad
[Chorus]
And you know
I've always been a fighter (I've always been a fighter)
And I get it from my father (My father)
I hope I'm not gonna die here (Not here, no not here, yeah)
You say while choking on your own tears
I hate being me
All the time it's (Your own tears)
So stifling
Child of mine (Mine)
I hate being me (Mine)
All the time it's (Mine)
So stifling
Child of mine
[Outro]
I'm running down a road to you
Wish I had something else to do
Other than to just stare at you
You
