Memoir Lyrics by S. Kalibre

0

I was smoking with Architech, living with my baby mum
Spittin my little raps to see what reaction I would get from em
The more I spat I could see I was impressing him
He told me he knew a guy called Mike who made beats for Americans
Two weeks later they picked me up from my gaff
Took me to the studio I laid down my first track
And the track was wack, I ain't afraid to say that
But you gotta come from somewhere to know where your shits at
I'm in the studio everyday trying to find my sound
Writing raps on the bog because my girls family's around
In a one bedroom flat not big enough to swing a cat
This is hard livin a life defined by our habitat
Hooked up with Abstract my spar through education
Offered him a spot on a track, no hesitation
Through him wet met Gemini too
Laid down some tracks formed the U.T.I. crew
Recorded a whole album but we shelved that shit
We sat back and realised we weren't ready for this
Round about the same time we hooked up with Frisko Dan
A hungry emcee we let him share in the plan
About a week later Abstract got arrested
Sentenced in court to do time up in Leicester
Meanwhile my brothers calling me up from Swinfen Hall
Saying we're getting love playing my C.D. in the dorm
Mans from pen spitting my raps down the phone
This felt good coz we were still unknown
Beef started brewing with Frisko and Gem
I left my ex, Abstract got out of pen
I was living back at home but life is life
Gem went away for his anniversary and left his wife
And he fucked her best friend in the name of revenge
Moved away to the coast to try and start again
Abstract moved to London, Frisko moved up North East
Leaving myself and Mike S on these Medway streets
So we formed Hard Livin, the two man team
Now we hit these tracks running like we're chasing our dreams
We already done the magazines and the mixtape spots
It was time to drop our own shit, something thats hot
Hit a few shows got picked up by a label
Released a single, things were looking stable
Big shout to Medway for all the love they showed us
The C.D's flew off the shelves the town went so nuts
I got three albums worth of material ready to go
I been putting in work and the seed is getting sewn
Oh Girl got pressed and it was ready to release
Tele, radio and magazines were all meant to hit the same week
Back and forth with my label, caining up my credit
Something happened the video took three months to edit
But it served its purpose and it served its purpose well
The label signed us to a major for a distribution deal
But still we're broke as fuck, going nowhere in a hurry
Promises made yesterday looking distant and blurry
Now we're back at the start again, not knowing whats next
Nearly falling out with each other getting mad vexed
But situations change but they stay the same
It's strange all this stress is burning my brain
I'm a bit wiser now careful who I put my trust in
If you got a C.D of a man in the street thats me hustlin
I gotta get my money up I gotta get this record out
I'll be dead without the music thats what my lifes about
I treat this game like a plate but at the moment its empty
I wanna fill it up and see my family get plenty
One more thing to say before this track fade out
Thank you for your support every little bit counts
