What is your name?

Kii Kinsella, SAINT KID

Where are you from?

Upstate New York, I’m from a town called Ithaca. I’m currently living in Los Angeles, but I miss that place every day.

What inspired you to start music?

I grew up in a very artistic household, so I always felt really free and encouraged to express myself. I starting coming up with ideas for movies and making my own DVD covers for them. I always wanted to create. Music choose me.

What do you plan this year?

The past few years have been life altering for me. I graduated high school early and moved out of my hometown the day I turned eighteen, and the drove cross country to LA in this renovated school bus my mom and her boyfriend built. Getting here was a really huge goal of mine. My plan for this year is to keep creating and keep exploring.

What's your newest single?

The song is called Shooting Range. I wrote and produced this record in my living room in the beginning of this year, and thinking about it as what was next for me always felt so right - so I'm very excited for it to be out there in the world.

What inspired this song?

This song to me is about feeling a sense of connection with someone that's so special and unique you can't replicate or reproduce it. Your willingness to fight and grow into someone better to keep that person in your life. This song is deeply about love for me.

What makes this song special?

What makes this song special for me is that it's completely coming from me. As a kid I always dreamed of being the writer, and the actor and the director, so I think that kid would be proud right now. I produced and wrote this song alone in my living room over the course of a week, then borrowed a friends camera to shoot and edit the video. This is been my process more or less for everything out so far. I've also been mixing and mastering the records myself too since I moved to LA and it's wild to hear what my music sounded like even a few months ago. I'm stoked to keep growing and evolving.

In the past year my entire perspective on life, creatively speaking, has shifted. The new goal is not to just put music out but to be intentional with it, and take my time to make something that represents me as a person.

What are your plans for the song?

My plans are to celebrate! I will be working on the next love letter tonight. And I'm thinking about a new guitar.
