Julius Caesar Essay Lyrics by Shadow P

In the play Julius Caesar by William Shakespeare, we come across many different characters. Looking into Cassius, he we see him as perhaps a villain. He was cunning. What were his beliefs and what techniques did he use?

Cassius had a different view on how a government should be run; his credence lead to his actions. “Why, man, he doth bestride the narrow world like a Colossus” (Document B). Here Cassius talks about a colossus referring to Caesar. This shows that Cassius believes that Caesar is too big and powerful for this world. “Upon what meat doth this our Caesar feed, that he is great” (Document B). In this quote, Cassius questions why Caesar is so overrated. This proves that Cassius believes that no man is greater than the others. Cassius actions match up with his beliefs; Cassius believes in equality and that Caesar is too powerful.

In order for Cassius to achieve what he wanted he used techniques to persuade the others into killing Caesar. “We petty men walk under his huge legs and peep about” (Document B). Cassius is trying to make the others see his point of view. This shows how he uses a little bit of imagery to help him explain the situation. “Why should that name be sounded more than yours” (Document B). Obviously Cassius needed Brutus on his side so he asks him a question. A question that requires an answer with a lot of thought, Cassius used questions to help the others understand. Cassius used a lot of techniques to help everyone see his point of view.

These were Cassius’ beliefs and techniques that paved the story of Julius Caesar’s death.
