Playing Crib by the Stove on Gibbs Crick Road Lyrics by Shane Pendergast

Winter Grace

2025

[Verse 1]
Playing crib by the stove on Gibbs Crick Road
Trying to beat the winter funk
Letting down our guards as we lay down cards
Hope to God I won't get skunked
There's some idle chat of this and that
Much we've left unsaid
Playing crib by the stove on Gibbs Crick Road
And I'm not sure who's ahead
I'm not sure who's ahead
[Verse 2]
Playing crib by the stove on Gibbs Crick Road
And my kitty's looking poor
Not too proud of my lowly count
Fifteen two and there ain't no more
But shuffling feet met wood stove heat
And made a friendly deal
Playing crib by the stove on Gibbs Crick Road
Maybe that's the way to heal
Maybe that's the way to heal
[Chorus]
Well, settle in and deal the cards
And pile away your plans
Though the chaos closes in
Fate is in our hands
Fate is in our hands
[Verse 3]
Playing crib by the stove on Gibbs Crick Road
There's a snowstorm rollin' in
Its only aim is to ruin our game
You can hear it in the wind
So we peg our scores around the board
Distractin' from the pain
Playing crib by the stove on Gibbs Crick Road
Maybe no one wins the game
Maybe no one wins the game
[Chorus]
Well, settle in and deal the cards
And pile away your plans
Though the chaos closes in
Fate is in our hands
Fate is in our hands
[Verse 4]
Playing crib by the stove on Gibbs Crick Road
And the snow globe starts to crack
The bitter gale meant to make us frail
Tries to tear our little shack
With a heavy blow, the power goes
But we're not out of tricks
Playing crib by the stove on Gibbs Crick Road
By a glowing candlewick
By a glowing candlewick
[Chorus]
Well, settle in and deal the cards
And pile away your plans
Although the chaos closes in
Fate is in our hands
Fate is in our hands
