Thesis Statement Lyrics by Shepard Merritt

Party In My Noggin

2023

[Verse]
Yeah, I used to satisfy myself when looking for joy
Despite acknowledgement from most that that's the stupider choice
If you can purchase happy, show me where I put in the coin
Cause I've been going for broke ever since a young little boy
I seek to climb all the mountains that I think most would avoid
And beat myself up if the record's not approaching the point
I'm killed by what I love like a kid who chokes on his toy
On paper, I don't look for peace, I look to destroy
But I'm put in a story of a kid who's got his foot in the door
But they keep it locked so I keep knocking trying to open with noisе
And never quit cause soonеr or later Imma open the door
And I'll get a glimpse of opportunities I hope to exploit
Even at my worst Imma destroy the verse with strep throat
Call me Eric, every time I cut the beat it bled so
Never change the flow to be commercially successful
Stay true to myself when I submerge in ink and let go
Threw a couple songs out 'cause they weren't completely retro
Trapped myself inside a vibe and now I feel compressed
Oh goodness I'm feeling claustrophobic someone take my pencil
I keep my royalties and don't write cause the label said so
I'm a bad dude
Learned from experience
If you're messing with my head it's gone be bad news
I'll attack you
Think I ain't serious
If it's sticking in my head, you'll get attached too
You can see the lights flicker in my eyes
As I'm blinking up and down, it gets painful
And I'm dissatisfied
Feeling rowdy in my head, a lot of chit chat, be quiet
If you think it's painful, my sir you are exactly right
I got migraines
And I advertise my pain
That's my thesis statement
Welcome to the party
I got migraines
And I advertise my pain
That's my thesis statement
Welcome to the party
