First of the Year Lyrics by Smooth Brain

I Wonder What I’ve Missed

2024

[VERSE 1]
Why do I long for the years
That I thought then was the worst time
Of my life
Sixteen, unseen, I was so mean
Feeling like the same kid I was then, now
[PRE-Chorus]
When did I forget to grow up?
Is there any way to put this on pause?
[Chorus]
I’ll disappear first of the year
Change my perspective
And try to accept that
Those days are gone
The curtains drawn
Pick up the pieces and walk away
[VERSE 2]
I’m at the age where life is changing
Yet still it stays the same
Stays the same
Losing it all yet gain something new every single day
Ain’t that just strange?
[PRE-Chorus]
When did I forget to grow up?
Is there any way to put this on pause?
[Chorus]
I’ll disappear first of the year
Change my perspective
And try to accept that
Those days are gone
The curtains drawn
Pick up the pieces and walk away
[BRIDGE]
Time to grow up
Time to move on
Time to grow up
I don’t wanna
Have to grow up
Time’s a loser
I don’t wanna
[Chorus]
I’ll disappear first of the year
Change my perspective
And try to accept that
Those days are gone
The curtains drawn
Pick up the pieces and walk away
