Open Road Lyrics by Smut Peddlers

Failure

0

Ass, Gas or Grass, No one rides for free
Trucking down the open road
Which way do I turn
Yeah I carry a heavy load
But I've got rocket fuel to burn
Dumped my father's ashes off a pier
Because I didn't pay for an urn
Then clashes of faith and fear
No love for which I yearn
Over the hills lies a nuclear desert
I go there to feel a transcendental pleasure
Rotting burger joints are like buried treasure
Their emotional value cannot be measured
Flying down the open road
Covering lots of ground
Back in the city the people are cold
Media babies abound
Now I am ready to do what I'm told
But my father's no longer around
Surrogate elders whose secrets unfold
My guts tie in knots at the sound
Over the hills lies a nuclear desert
I go there to feel a transcendental pleasure
Rotting burger joints are like buried treasure
Their emotional value cannot be measured
Hammering down the open road
Much more pavement to pound
Got to figure out which way to go
Before I head back to town
Easter California ocean plateau
No one for miles around
Parched white cross where the wind always blows
At it's foot lies a body sized mound
Over the hills lies a nuclear desert
I go there to feel a transcendental pleasure
Rotting burger joints are like buried treasure
Their emotional value cannot be measured
Superficial test patterns living a lie
See me as being a clown
People who matter are dropping like flies
The bastards are grinding them down
Now I realize that nobody knows
The answers will never be found
Back to the junkyard of smog-eating souls
In beautiful tinsel town
Over the hills lies a nuclear desert
I go there to feel a transcendental pleasure
Rotting burger joints are like buried treasure
Their emotional value cannot be measured
Ass, Gas or Grass, No one rides for free
