I would write down my anger frustration

Why I gotta share a room?
And Hashim take the basement

First time i had a bed in 6 years
I should just be gracious
But got used to grandparents and uncles
Just being in spaces when I would get home from school
Marcus playing a game
Vinnie locked in his room
My mom tired from work
And papa probably is too
Mommy pulling the double
'Cause that’s what she usually do

I ain’t talk to my dad in a year
I hate it but try to act cool
Hashim is with his friends again
Jeniah watching cartoons
I hate to feel alone
Built forts in my grandmom dining room to feel at home
I'm buying movies that put me in a good zone

The movie rising as a kid
It made me feel alive
That’s probably why I dance so much releasing what’s inside
Growing up I never really cried
Trying to be strong like ma
But I had so many questions like
Why we not living like them
On tv two parent homes a dog and easy
Living environment suburban where the streets clean

But I digress I never ask
Cause they look stressed to make them ends meet
Staying a child's place look happy
But at the seams bleed for something more
But I ain’t had the realizations until I went on tour

That little girl that needed the emotional support
Came out in Chicago just to pour
Tell her it’s okay I got it secure
Back when innocence was pure and never fully mature
I remember those times writing middle school rhymes
Jay capping I who defy the laws of the hood
Facing what's inside these book of rhymes and stories where we come to hide
