We’re Not Different Lyrics by Speeder Razor

2023

[Verse 1]
Improving with every line that I write
(I’m improving)
I’m proving that you don’t gotta be hyped
(You don’t gotta be)
The foggy weather is never permanent
Sooner or later, everything is visible in sight
I’m preaching patience in my poetry, precisely
Since the first tape that I ever did, I’m likely
To carry on ‘til I write a whole book
(I’ll carry on)
Make it addictive, get them all hooked
Unlike most of my songs that have never had that
Only straight verses
Repetition makes the best, man, I do get that
But I gotta talk to the people (Let me talk to you)
I got a message and they gotta hear that
(You gotta hear this)
How can they learn when they tryna turn up?
Rushing to the part of the chorus, they gonna stand up
When they should concentrate and focus on what matters
Like the Black Lives, people are getting murdered
Either by the same skin colour and that’s the worst of it
Then it’s by the ones who fear us, you get the rest of it
The line before that is messing with me
They never want you making it out, that’s jealousy
Showing dirty teeth in your face while at the bottom
You make it to the top then you get to see hypocrisy
Talking ‘bout “I got your back, G”
Same place that if you don’t watch it
That’s where the stab be, indefinitely
It’s all crazy, the black crimes
Towards your distant relatives, not at all far
From being sisters and brothers but you’re divided up
You just leave ‘em down on the ground
You just let ‘em die
By your own hands
I wonder what’s process in your brain
Taking place to kill your own man
To kill your old friend
Person that you knew since you could barely stand
It’s all so sad
(You’ve been friends with ‘em!)
They kill their families
I’m feeling so ashamed how the Earth has lost humanity
The world is so crazed that not even psychology can fix it
Justice system on a picnic
They never do time, they do crime and get away
These songs are futile, I do try to find a way
But nobody listens, sad news like every day
(They won’t hear me!)
It pains me to see the graves
(It all pains, man)
[Interlude]
We hate each other so much
That others also find the opportunity to hate us
They even try to kill us too, man
(Why do we hate each other?)
Rest in Peace the ones we’ve lost
[Verse 2]
The ones who fear us are those with no melanin
They’re the ones who brought guns, and colonized
Leaving skeletons on the bottom of the seashore
That’s my ancestors who hopped off
And didn’t wanna see more
(They didn’t wanna see more of that!)
How are they scared when they got the power
(Why?)
Eskom is trash for the darkest hours
Some of our people need education
I thought in ’94 it was destroyed but we still see segregation
(Separation)
They don’t want us in the same class
They get happy when we don’t pass and stay in the same class
We don’t occupy the same class
Upper and middle – their status
So happy that we stay far
Nah, that is them, not us, they’re so delusional
They’re starting fights, we react, then it’s critical
They have the laws, so they judge us for the crimes they invented
(They gonna judge you!)
Already lost no matter what you’ve invested
I speak what’s in my mind
They drew up the constitution and said I’ve got the rights
Freedom of Speech, I don’t bite my tongue
I want you to see that you’re wrong, all you Blacks and Whites
Blacks, killing Blacks for the food
Whites, drowning Blacks in a pool
Blacks, stealing from your own hood
Whites telling you to freeze and they still shoot
But ofcause, it’s not everybody
I’m tryna paint you a picture on both of the parties
Some of the people are messing up for everybody
(Why you messing up?)
So then we’re getting judged for your sins, both parties
(We’re getting judged for you!)
We gotta fix our attitude, I told ya before
All of us gotta make move
So we belong together, nothing else to prove
Nobody’s inferior, nobody’s superior too
(The past is the past)
Let be bygones be that (Yeah)
Ready to forget, but now they’re bringing it back
Listening to news have gotten me so upset
Wondering why they wanna see another suppressed!
Like I said, all the talk, that’s nothing
They don’t even care for the words, they gon be jumping
To the rhythm of this song, why bother?
On many songs, I’ve said this shit
But it’s still happening
So it’s time that I stopped the recorder!
