Tick tock, tick tock, tick tock, goes the clock.
But what is time?
An eight second Google search tells me it's the indefinite continued progress of existence and events in the past, present, and future regarded as a whole.
Pfft, what a lousy definition.
Then I ask myself, what is time to me?
Time is the uncontrollable, a dimension beyond our reach,
We have power over many things that I can preach,
We've harnessed fire and water, wind and electricity,
Defied gravity and walked on the moon, but time is still a mystery.
We tried to label time by creating numbers and digits,
Seconds and minutes and hours are all just figments,
Of days and weeks and months and years.
Time heals pain washes away tears.
Time controls us, we don't control time.
We ain't Marty McFly cuz our time's a linear line.
Time creates age and develops relationships.
Time shows no mercy, filled with abrasiveness.
See time changes us from innocent babies to fun loving children,
To stressed out adults just one in seven billion.
Time makes us lose memories, thoughts, friends.
Time gives us life and takes it away in the end.
Nine months to be created, a single moment to die,
I was tryna hi but time already said good bye.
I heard every second time births two and takes away one,
Take away meaning death but the story isn't done.
Time left species extinct, countries separated,
It left some to die, made others educated.
Time controls us, we don't control time,
And that creates a new question in my mind.
What do you do with time? Seeing as how we don't own it,
All we can do is use time as our primary component.
We always count down the final seconds of a game,
The few minutes before the bell, time always stays the same.
But doesn't time fly when you're having fun?
Or slow down as you wait for things to get done?
Usain Bolt broke records in 9.58 seconds,
Time means the world to him I reckon.
Apollo 11 took 3 days 3 hours and 49 minutes,
To reach the moon I bet every second counted for the men in it.
60 seconds make a minute, 60 min to an hour,
24 hours in a day, time has a lotta power,
7 days a week, or 365 a year,
And what's something many of us fear?
What if we waste our lives without purpose, without accomplishment,
What if time flashes by leaving us with nothing, there's no stopping it.
Some people say time heals all, be it pain or stress,
Emotional or physical, time is the best.
One may take 20 years to write a best selling book,
To write this piece of work? Couple hours it took.
All I know is I make the most of time,
Use all that I can every second is mine.
I invest time wisely into building a career,
Developing my skills as I grow over the years.
We can all keep waiting for whatever it is,
To come knocking at our door like a nice Christmas gift.
Or you can seize time and do what needs to be done,
Use time to your advantage succeed and have fun.
Stop wasting time and start working hard,
Spend your time building a future and it'll take you far.
Some of us tend to dwindle on the past,
But how's time that's already lost help your future path,
The only gift we're given is time itself, the present.
So take every second minute hour day understanding this message.
On the other hand, we often try to rush ourselves.
We forget to enjoy the small moments, to love ourselves.
If you just keep rushing through life to get to the end,
Eventually you'll reach it but you'll be dead instead.
Don't underestimate the power of time,
Observe what time offers, live life, continue to shine.
We don't control time, time controls us.
Time ticks away as we wait for our late bus.
