The Recipe Lyrics by Stephen the Levite, DJ Official

Still Hungry

2020

[Verse 1]
It all started with red stew, "Let me get all of that and some bread too"
Older brother, the hunter's in hunger, thinks he'll be dead soon
Younger brother the mother's favorite is making some lentils
"Sell me your birthright. "What's it to me if I don't get food"
He sold it, it's over in only minutes
He's sustained and nicknamed in exchange for his privilege
Then disdains the mistake of this haste decision
To give Jake the big steak but this ain't the ending
Their father is old and blind and possibly close to dying
Who honestly knows the time, or can plot for their own demise
So he called his oldest child to bless him
After he fetched him some venison but Rebekah was listening
And she remembers when
God told her the older would serve the younger while suffering back when she had the twins in her
The prophecy got her thinking her husband is bugging not favoring Jacob so she's fixing to swindle him
Come back with a couple goats
I'll make it tastes like the game that your brother is hunting for
We're gonna need it's hair too, and some of your brother's clothes
So you can smell and feel the same so your father doesn't know
If we can deceive him into believing that you are Edom
Then you better be ready for the blessing you'll be receiving
Maybe seizing is more appropriate, mean like the seasoning that the goat will get
He doesn't know it yet but when Edom gets home he's gon' be pissed
When it's found out while he was out hunting his brother comes in
Fronting saying he's someone he really wasn't
Deception level at 95, he didn't try to hide his voice but Isaac would buy the lie, not the wisest choice
The father like son, falls to the cunning, lost in his hunger
They're talking he's stunned, it's already done
I'm sorry, Esau Priority One and Source of comfort is to slaughter him for all these stunts
So now he's running
[Verse 2]
Decades later he hears that Edom's coming
He's got a couple of wives now seeds in abundance
He's become rich, despite his uncle Laban's attempts, to betray him through favor he overcomes him
And now he's running again but not from Edom
He's scared but not retreating, prepared to fall and plead with him
Share the profits received so he'll spare him and all his people
Through fear he also believes in the care of the God who leads him
And promised to multiply him, we don't call Him the I Am
Yet but he's supplying his needs and chastises him
For all his defiance, now he probably gets it because since the stew
And the switcheroo he's been swindled too
But after all that he's cause to Esau
Who knows of he's raw or if the beef's squashed
Time to find out, He's trying to be wise, dividing his tribe
So if one sees it's demise the other retreats and hides
As they file out he's leading them hoping the gifts appeased him
Bowing down when he greets him but Edom runs out to meet him
They embrace, he fell on his neck, together they wept
That's better than he would ever expect
Now they reunited
He's meeting the fam now, Jacob insists on him taking the gift, he's making a pitch like the sham wow
Edom offers him men but he doesn't need them
They're going their separate ways in peace and nobody is bleeding
Here's the recipe, add red stew and goat and you're getting beef
But add a little lamb and you're getting peace
Here's the recipe, add red stew and goat and you're getting beef
But add a little lamb and you're getting peace
