Cathartica (Interlude) Lyrics by Su Ha Bu Wa

SoulSpeak: Fruition and Other Times

2019

[Intro]
Like water, Weles liked low places
He slithered among the roots in the shadows of oak and walnut and beech
Yet, like the dead, he belonged with alder and birch and willow
The heavens above were claimed by Piorun
The dragon’s trespass provoked the thunder god, who chose to smite him
Piorun chased Weles, pelting lightning bolts as the serpent hid behind rocks or houses or people
Collateral damage. Eventually he was struck
Piorun banished the serpent, and the rains came again
Thunder in the distance
I met my God on a mountaintop
I broke down, weeping at the peak
Lightning strikes
On that starving rock I felt purged and cleansed of my pain
[Verse 1]
Before the downpour; static in the air
My God! Would you tell me if you’re there!
I was hoping we could talk about it
Otherwise, me and this bullet might find a common topic
Speaking softer than the satin in a coffin
A molotov and a moth adding fuel to the fire
Emotions I’ve bottled up, now I’m devoured in them
On my knees praying this prayer has power in it
Laying on my back; fingers combing the earth
If I laid my seeds would they find a home in this dirt?
I want to feed my roots. I can’t feel my toes
I need smoke just to exhale and free my soul
Forgive my sins! Bathe me in holy water
Holy father, ego death and my body my only offering
Fog on the river, my God if I’ma give up
On life, then why give it to a bottom feeder like me?
[Verse 2]
This is the interlude, this is an interview
Introduce me to the inner you
You, standing across from me in the mirror
I see can it in your eyes, I know you’re tired like an inner-tube
I know that you’ve been crying, trying hard to deny it
But the tears beside your feet are telling me that you can’t hide it
I know it’s been a few long years
My friend. but now that we meet again, I’m all ears
Tell me about the guilt. Tell me about the blame
I’m telling you it’s okay to let go of all this pain
Dirty bath water and the wrinkles on your hands
Just love yourself and you can leave it in the past
Dirty clothes on your back, just derobe (let it go)
Dump them like a body in the river (let it flow)
A relic of a fool that you have killed a hundred-fold
Where does old laundry lie? Only heaven knows
[Chorus]
There’s nobody here that can take an apology
It’s too late to say sorry for the pain you caused!
Forgive yourself, and I think you could probably
Let go of this burden that you’ve placed on your heart
There’s nobody here that can take your apology
It’s too late to say sorry for the pain you caused!
Forgive yourself, and I think you could probably
Let go of this fucking burden that you’ve placed on your heart
Just let it go…
[Outro]
