1st of the year Lyrics by Thala (DEU)

Avalanche

2024

[Verse 1]
First of the year, you said, "Hey, you, sleep tight"
On the second, told me someone had changed your mind
And I've been goin' through it
'Cause I think I waited for too long
And there's nothin' else to it
All that I can do is get drunk and get through it
This might be the end of it all
I miss the days and how I felt before
[Chorus]
It's a real thing
Don't think I've ever been scared this much
'Cause I'm used to take off
When it gets deeper, when it gets harder
I know how to guard myself quite well
[Instrumental Break]
[Verse 2]
It wasn't meant to be
I know it was scary to open your heart to me
And once you did
I ran like a little kid
And even though I seem like I've moved on
There's nothin' out there that has killed me for this long
It's been weeks and months of debatin'
If it's worth it and if I should be changin'
[Chorus]
It's a real thing
Don't think I've ever been scared this much
'Cause I'm used to take off
When it gets deeper, when it gets harder
I know how to guard myself quite well
[Bridge]
I get high instead
And then I try to forget
You and me in bed
And how it felt
I get high instead
And then I try to forget
You and me in bed
And how it felt
[Outro]
It's a real thing
Don't think I've ever been scared this much
'Cause I'm used to take off
When it gets deeper, when it gets harder
I know how to guard myself quite well
