My Poor Farmer Friend Lyrics by The Beanies

Noise Factory

2020

My poor farmer friend
Got one dog for him to tend
But they always leave him in the end
One dog ran from home
Going off to find a bone
Leaving my poor farmer friend alone
My poor farmer friend
Got two cows for him to tend
But they always leave him in the end
Two cows strolled to town
Joined the circus and saw a clown
Now my poor old farmer friend feels down
My poor farmer friend
Got three goats for him to tend
But they always leave him in the end
Three goats moved away
To open up their own cafe
My farmer friеnd he eats therе everyday
My poor farmer friend
Got four pigs for him to tend
But they always leave him in the end
Four pigs toured the land
In their Beatles tribute band
And last I checked, the pigs were doing grand
My poor farmer friend
Got five sheep for him to tend
But they always leave him in the end
Five sheep found Wall Street
Made profits in some corn and wheat
Now their sound investment is complete
My poor farmer friend
Got six horses for him to tend
But they always leave him in the end
Six horses galloped far
Took a road trip in a car
To Tamworth to see the big guitar
My poor farmer friend
Got seven ducks for him to tend
But they always leave him in the end
Seven ducks swam to sea
Took up a career in piracy
Singing “its the pirates life for me”
My poor farmer friend
Got eight donkeys for him to tend
But they always leave him in the end
Eight donkeys formed a team
Started up a pyramid scheme
Selling their hoof lotions and cream
My poor farmer friend
No one left for him to tend
All his buddies left him in the end
WAIT!
One dog changed it all
He’d just run off to fetch the ball
Came right back at the farmer’s call
A farmer and his best friend standing tall
