Better Off Dread Lyrics by The Bennies

Better Off Dread EP

2013

I’m at the party at the bus stop and you know I’m at the bar
What the fuck’s going on there’s no fucking ska
Hearing all this music and I dunk this shit for me
All I wanna listen to is Lee "Scratch" Perry
Music from Jamaica, Seisophonic wailer
Jesse Michael Bradley Nowell and Steppin' Razor
Say ska is dead, sleeping in my head
Fuck what they say cos you’re better off dread!
Ringing in my head
Got the sound of the dread
Ringing in my head
Let it ring let it ring
Ringing in my head
Got the sound of the dread
Ringing in my head
Sunday morning’s coming, feeling kinda slow
With my head full of heartache and my heart full of blow
Roll me up on QR for the days like these
It’s some pretty 80s reggae smoking dead trees
Looking for that reason and I never had one
Looking for that reason and I guess I found some
It was kicking in the music which was kicking in the street
Kicking in that rhythm of the tutone beat
Ringing in my head
Got the sound of the dread
Ringing in my head
Let it ring let it ring
Ringing in my head
Got the sound of the dread
Ringing in my head
Go!
Go!
Go!
Go!
Go!
Go!
Go!
Go!
It’s dark
And it’s late
You’re alone
Alone on your own
And it’s dark
And, oh, so late
You’re alone
Alone on your own
