Carry a Brick Lyrics by The Damned Things

High Crimes

2019

[Verse 1]
Go and meet your eyeless fate
The grief will only last until you're gone
Vision without courage makes us far too late
We'd do anything to slow the setting sun
Time is turned back by the bottle
So I built a bed of foam and broken glass
The threat is dead before my money's gone
Come on out, we're all coming in last
[Chorus]
You're gonna take my life and when you do
I won't follow you
I won't follow you
Leaving me is the right thing to do
But I won't follow you
I won't follow you
[Verse 2]
Offer up your beating heart
To a sky that might absorb the boiling blood
We dance until we're dead but still no sign of rain
We'd do anything to resurrect the love
[Chorus]
You're gonna take my life and when you do
I won't follow you
I won't follow you
Leaving me is the right thing to do
But I won't follow you
I won't follow you
[Bridge]
Put down that weight
You're swimming up a river
Put down that weight
You're carrying a brick, carrying a brick
Put down that weight
You're swimming up a river
Put down that weight
You're carrying a brick, carrying a brick
[Guitar solo]
[Chorus]
You're gonna take my life and when you do
I won't follow you
I won't follow you
Leaving me is the right thing to do
But I won't follow you
I won't follow you
You're gonna take my life and when you do
I won't follow you
I won't follow you
Leaving me is the right thing to do
But I won't follow you
I won't follow you
Follow you
Follow you
