Locked Away Lyrics by The Hotknives (UK)

Screams, Dreams and Custard Creams

0

I used to watch the circus come to town
And queue up for the show
I used to fool around and play the clown
A long, long time ago
Another suitcase with another story
Another letter in the hallway for me
Another chance of never being there
And then I met a girl with a curious stare
So I told you and you told her
How much I'd like to hold her
And now I'm five years older
I wish I'd never told you
I'd like to hold you
But you keep me locked away
Locked away
I never thought of her as being like
A consolation prize
It took some history and lots of mistakes
To open up my eyes
And now a different girl is cutting up 'Mars bars'
A season ticket is replacing fast cars
The curtain's up but the lights are down
The curious stare has re-emerged as a frown
So I told you and you told her
How much I'd like to hold her
And now I'm five years older
I wish I'd never told you
I'd like to hold you
But you keep me locked away
Locked away
A complication in the twilight zone
The juggler fell down
The staring girl is living on her own
The other girl is happy living with her clown
So I told you and you told her
How much I'd like to hold her
And now I'm five years older
I wish I'd never told you
I'd like to hold you
So I told you, and you told her
How much I'd like to hold her
And now I'm five years older
I wish I'd never told you
I'd like to hold you
But you keep me locked away
Locked away
