Nacirema DreamZzz Lyrics by New Gen (LA)

2016

[Verse 1]
Last night I had Nacirema Dream/
When I woke up I seen that I had bought so many things/
I got choked up started balling, cuz I thought that I was ballin/
I thought that I was fly, but it turns out that I was falling/
That was merely an illusion of the fear/
That's institutionalized to convince consumers we'll die if we quit consuming/
Buy it if we don't use it or need it/
The youth think greed equals happiness and their capitals steady being depleted/
That's why the pursuit of it is all they can ever promise/
We're never supposed to actually have it or ever progress/
Digest the food for thought/
Said digest that food for thought/
Till nada's left so try your best/
Deny your flesh to prove them wrong/
But it's seemingly impossible/
With the amount of obstacles/
That they place in our way so that they can remain on top/
There's no competing with the elite you thinking you got a lot/
Cuz your car is a hundred grand and your hand's frozen like a Popsicle/
Stop it bro it's so comical when you see the amount of dough/
Make off what you cop they rob it straight up out your pocket/
No pot of gold, no rainbow, instead just hunger and pain so/
Shedding light on this slavery..why you watching your chain glow?/
[Hook]
You gave it up for all your favorite things/
Became a slave to the dream/
And just to get the cake and the cream/
Became a slave to the dream/
You gave it up for all your favorite things/
Became a slave to the dream/
But things ain't what they seem/
Don't be a slave to the dream/
Don't be a Slave to the dream/
[Bridge: The Lion Heart]
They think we don't know what we're doing/
They want us under their control/
(Dreams)
Complain about what needs improvement/
Yet we don't even care to grow/
(Don't be a slave to the dream)
Yet how can you expect to make a difference/
When you won't even change yourself/
(Don't be a slave to the dream)
Forget the riches of the system/
Your spirit's what contains the wealth/
[Verse 2]
Look
Money ain't the root of all evil that's just the love of it/
Because of it husbands and wives decide to break the covenant/
Nothing is more elusive, you wish to feel exclusive/
The truth is humans misuse it pursuing foolish illusions to get/
Immediate gratification impatient pacing back and forth/
Once you got what you asking for ask for more/
Got cash? You want cash galore/
Thirst is truly unquenchable/
Not to mention your inner goal is to be on center folds/
Given roles in movies, dipped in clothes and jewelry/
You give your soul up for what?/
All these women, hoes, and groupies/
You need to know and need to see it hollow yeah hella empty/
Though tempting, it's iffy if we attain the change too quickly/
Then it's taken for granted/
Men mistaken the vanity for sanity/
Man it seems the human race is pathetic/
Thinking paper is what makes you, you can decide who you are/
But the paper doesn't change you, it amplifies who you are/
[Hook]
You gave it up for all your favorite things/
Became a slave to the dream/
And just to get the cake and the cream/
Became a slave to the dream/
You gave it up for all your favorite things/
Became a slave to the dream/
But things ain't what they seem/
Don't be a slave to the dream/
Don't be a Slave to the dream/
[Bridge: The Lion Heart]
They think we don't know what we're doing/
They want us under their control/
(Dreams)
Complain about what needs improvement/
Yet we don't even care to grow/
(Don't be a slave to the dream)
Yet how can you expect to make a difference/
When you won't even change yourself/
(Don't be a slave to the dream)
Forget the riches of the system/
Your spirit's what contains the wealth/
[Outro]
So wake up/
So wake up/
Don't be a slave to the dream/
So wake up/
So wake up/
So wake up/
So wake up/
I'm a need for you to wake up/
So wake up/
So wake up/
I'm a need for you to wake up/
Steady tryna get your cake up/
They gone hit you with a pay cut wake up/
So wake up/
So wake up/
So wake up
