A Step in the Right Direction Lyrics by The Montanas

The Rubble Collection Part 10 - Professor Jordan’s Magic Sound Show

1968

You used to tell me that you couldn’t give a damn
And you had the right to live the life you chose
Your phony friends were always somewhere near at hand
Just to lead you and each door began to close
Now at last you’ve seen the light of day
Take a chance and let me show the way
It’s a step in the right direction, baby
You can leave it all behind
It’s a step in the right direction, baby
Everything is going to be just fine
There’s no respect for things conventional in life
Your intentions were to change them all around
You didn’t realize there’s something more in life
Than all the worthless dreams that let you down
Now at last, I know you understand
Come with me and let me take your hand
It’s a step in the right direction, baby
You can leave it all behind
It’s a step in the right direction, baby
Everything is going to be just fine
Step in the right direction
Step in the right direction
Step in the right direction
Now at last, I know you’ll understand
Come with me and let me take your hand
It’s a step in the right direction, baby
You can leave it all behind
It’s a step in the right direction, baby
Everything is going to be just fine
It’s a step in the right direction, baby
You can leave it all behind
It’s a step in the right direction, baby
Everything is going to be just fine
It’s a step in the right direction, baby
You can leave it all behind
It’s a step in the right direction, baby…
