Backwards Lyrics by The Pavers

Return to the Island of No Return

0

Now that heaven's gone blood red
And salvation from the deadly itch
Is a top-secret button
Who's gonna flip the switch?
Now the saints are all sinners
So which one's gonna light the fuse?
Can't win, can't lose
But who'll choose
To light the fuse?
It's the triumph of reason
The reason that we hate us all
Reduction of seasons
No spring or fall
It's only summer and winter
And summer never felt like this
Hot arctic kiss
The sick bliss
Of religiousness
The preachers keep preaching
And we all keep rеaching backwards
Our heroes are ruthlеss
Even the truth is backwards
And all of the faith that I see in your eyes
It makes me so afraid for you
When did dancing alone become
Dancing like a lonely girl?
Does it make her popular?
Hey, does it girl?
And later on when she's lonely
Cause no one even knows her name
Who will she blame?
She'll blame them
They're all the same
Subtract her, erase her
At the very least chase her backwards
She's running and hiding
Slipping and sliding backwards
And all of the faith that I see in your eyes
It makes me so afraid for you
Because all of the places I can show you to hide
Won't make them go away from you
It's true, no!
Goodbye, just wave goodbye
Goodbye, today goodbye
Goodbye, just say goodbye
Cause all of the faith that I see in your eyes
It makes me so afraid for you
And all of the ways I can show you to hide
Won't make them go away from you
We're running away, we're running away
We gotta get away from here
Bye-bye...
Yeah we're running away, we're going away
We gotta get away
Today goodbye
We're running away, we're going away
We gotta get away
Today goodbye
Goodbye, goodbye (goodbye)
Today goodbye
Goodbye (goodbye)
Goodbye (goodbye)
Today goodbye...
