She made her morning coffee
And watched her favorite program
Then she got a call stating “is this Shirley, ma’am?”
Told her the news of how her son’s car was slammed

She didn’t understand
She was at a loss for words
She dropped her coffee mug right on the floor
Started screaming and crawled underneath the sink
Praying for the nightmare to end
That’s when she just crawled into bed
Took some painkillers to get on out of her head
She said that was the night she started having the dream
