This is Who We Are Lyrics by Tom Goss

2010

[Mike, Spoken]
My name is Mike Almy. I served as a major in the United States Air Force, leading a unit of nearly 200 men and women. I served for four tours of duty in the Middle East in Saudi Arabia and Iraq. I was discharged under the Don't Ask Don't Tell law after the Air Force searched my private emails that I wrote to family and friends while I was in Iraq. Ultimately the discharge proceedings lasted 16 months before I was finally thrown out. My security clearance was suspended, and on my last day in the military I was given a police escort off of my base as if I was a common criminal

[David, Spoken]
My name is David Hall. I served for five years enlisted in the Air Force as a staff sergeant before being let out early to go into Air Force ROTC. One year into my one year as a cadet, I was kicked out under Don't Ask Don't Tell though I was ranked number one in my class and had just received my pilot slot. So instead of flying planes, I no longer have a career in the military

[Verse 1:Tom and Matt]
Stone Steps, Stone heart
Back turned on a hero's part
The earth shakes and swallows the hope of man

Red face, angry eyes
Discharged from the body of lies
Your questions, they couldn't be more out of line

[Chorus]
Why won't you ask me
About my greatest love
So I can tell you
The greatest story of
Two wild-hearted lovers who were sick of holdin' hands in the dark

This is who we are

[Verse 2:Tom and Matt]

Blindfolded with weights in your hand
This decision is greater than just one man
So stand up and speak in your loudest voice

Because justice delayed is justice denied
I'm so sick of hearin' how your hands are tied
Give me one good reason why you're still holdin' on to these lies
Instead of feeding me lies

Chorus]
Why won't you ask me
About my greatest love
And I would tell you
The greatest story of
Two wild-hearted lovers who were sick of holdin' hands in the dark

This is who we are

[Chorus]
Why won't you ask me
About my greatest love
So I can tell you
The greatest story of
Two wild-hearted lovers who were sick of holdin' hands in the dark
Oooh
Two wild-hearted lovers who were sick of holdin' hands in the dark
Woah~
Wild-hearted lovers who were sick of holdin' hands in the dark
This is who we are
