while the fat girl comes out of the corner
finally safe from the ogling of breasts
and the skinny girl finally stopped pushing up hers
And they burn their bras together.
The rebel children lash out
at their conservative parents
who smoked with your parents back in the day
and everything is just deja vu to you.
He asked me if we knew each other
his eyes were dilated
and I'd never looked into those eyes before tonight
but, yeah, I've seen you before
I think I was you once before.
And he looks away and begins to forget
because there's always something else to remember.
The boy who sat beside you all along has disappeared
so you make small talk with the one at the bar
because life goes on.

they all go home
to separate worlds
