Bird Lives Lyrics by Tucker Zimmerman

Ten Songs

1969

The Bird was steeping Friday night
About to take his weekend flight
Boss Man Hunt spread the killers five
And said, "the Bird can't stay alive"

Oh, Red Fred went with a hired gun
Unloaded it into the sun
And it got the sky but it missed the Bird
Boss Man Hunt was deeply disturbed

He sent the fats on Saturday
The air is hot, the bird got away
Fats said he left him cold and thin
His last words were "the Bird can't swim"

With nets of steel just like his nerves
Upon the bridge he met the Bird
Above the river he madе his try
But he forgot that the Bird could fly

On Sunday, Jack Knife namеd his prize
But from a distance he backed down twice
Went through two rounds, lost, he was down in the third
Face to face against the Bird

So Boss Man sent Pig Boy the Clown
With chauffeur Mule to drive him down
At a hundred and twenty they followed the Bird
But they never made it round Dead Man's Curve

So Boss Man Hunt said to the Bird
"Those killers got what they deserved"
While stringing up the other three
On Monday morning the Bird was free

Whoa-oa-oa-oa
Well now, have you heard the word? Bird lives!
I said, have you heard the word? Bird lives!
Oh tell me, have you heard the word? Bird lives!
Oh, have you heard the word? Bird lives!
