That By Discord Things Increase Lyrics by wars

We Are Islands, After All

2016

I'm a stranger to myself
It's been so long since
I've felt myself in my own skin
I am a desert losing sand
Down the well of our endeavours
Armed with other's thoughts through which
We see the unborn tremors
The polarity in all we see
Is tempered by an inward beat
Can I promise you I'll carry on forlorn
Or am I simply wired wrong?
I am diminished by the thought
I have become so much less
I am adrift
The pattern's ripped
And I'm trapped in this tainted head
And the colourless streets insist
There's a comfort here somewhere
But I am prey to all my truths
I'm lost and unaware
The polarity in all we see
Is tempered by an inward beat
Can I promise you I'll carry on forlorn
Or am I simply wired wrong?
I feel this all decline until it's over
Into its darkest depths as we burn
And I don't believe that things could ever change
Or edges frayed could ever be corrected
But I look to the stars for the answers
I look to the stars for the answers
And I don't believe that things could ever change
Or edges frayed could ever be corrected
But I look to the stars for the answers
I look to the stars for the answers
As to what the effigy I kneel to
Is the man I used to be
And my wonder is if that man
Is still in me somewhere
The polarity in all we see
Is tempered by an inward beat
Can I promise you I'll carry on forlorn
Or am I simply wired wrong?
I feel this all decline until it's over
Into its darkest depths as we burn
And I don't believe that things could ever change
Or edges frayed could ever be corrected
But I look to the stars for the answers
I look to the stars for the answers
But we beat on into the fray
Our minds consumed as tray
As we cling to knowing how to be
That by discord things increase
