Nothing (Commentary) Lyrics by WE ARE FURY

DUALITY (Commentary)

2021

Joachim Speidel:
"Nothing" with Kyle is basically looking back on a relationship that you thought was "it", like this was the one. And then things end suddenly, abruptly for whatever reason, and then that kind of stuff is really hard to just process and deal with. So, it's like a cry for like an explanation for all the things that went unexplained, basically.
Stuart Brookes:
Yeah, when you don't get closure for ending relationships, it can really, like, drain you, as you keep thinking about it and you keep going over in your head because you're really not sure what it meant to you. Did it all mean nothing?
Joachim:
It's likе similar to "Broken", where it's likе very sad lyrics if you actually think about it on like a summary.
Stuart:
Yeah, kind of like an upbeat, happy feeling track.
Joachim:
And we definitely drew like some inspiration from like ODESZA and like, like more acoustic, like pop records. Like this was one of the records where we had a super minimalistic approach, 'cause we approached it, trying to make a pop song. It wasn't like, oh, let's make EDM, necessarily. So there was a lot of cutting sections out, rewriting sections, just to make it, you know, the best track that it could be.
